My work is abstract and essentially concerned with mark making-the creation of something controlled, ordered, and coherent from invented images. 

In my current work, I utilize the particular shape of an ellipse, resembling a collapsed pair of parentheses or the natural “C” and “D” movement of my arm and wrist. I allow the painted ellipses to dry partially and then wash away the wet paint in a dripping process that leaves only a series of outlines. The resulting matrix of lines establishes form and order, balancing the elements of the composition-positive and negative spaces, crowded or more sparsely marked areas-to help move the eye around the painting. 

In the case of “Barge”, a diptych composed of two panels-yellow on the left, blue on the right-refer again to composition and balance. Color vibrates, taking you from the light to the dark and back.
